Cheeseboy: Perfect Grilled Cheese

This past Saturday, Bret and I headed to South Station to catch a train to Bret's parents' house.  We had gotten up with enough time to work out, shower and head out the door but not enough time to have breakfast.  We decided to grab a bite to eat at South Station before we jumped on our train.  While there are a few quick food options in South Station, we knew exactly what we wanted to try - Cheeseboy.

Since opening in South Station in the past year, I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about this take-out grilled cheese stand.  Neither Bret nor I have had the chance to try out Cheeseboy and we were both excited to finally give it a go.

The menu is limited with a few signature grilled cheese sandwiches, along with a make-your-own option.  Bret and I both decided to make our own and watched with great interest as the grilled cheeses were prepared before us and packaged in these miniature pizza box-like boxes.

I created a grilled cheese using Italian bread, cheddar cheese and jalapeno peppers.

I've got to say that this grilled cheese sandwich did not disappoint.  I loved that there were thin slices of bread perfectly grilled to a golden-brown color that sandwiched a generous helping of gooey melted cheese.

I thought my grilled cheese was, dare I say it, perfect.  I was completely satisfied with my choice, although it did make an odd breakfast choice.

Cheeseboy is located at 720 Atlantic Avenue, Boston, MA in the South Station train concourse.  They have other locations in New England and another location opening up at the Prudential Center sometime this year.

I haven't been yet, but totally looking forward to trying - I have heard some very good things - all that cheese in your picture is making my mouth water!

I haven't been to Cheeseboy yet but I really want to! Good to hear you thought it was perfect. After seeing their special bread-buttering tool on TV I've been waiting for the right moment to head over there!

I haven't been to Cheeseboy yet but I do love a good grilled cheese sandwich. I used to order it at the New Your Diner in Watertown for breakfast/brunch so I don't think it's a weird choice! But then again, you and I have similar tastes in food ;)

I expected more variety on their menu for cheeses, like Gruyere or a Chevre. However, that won't stop me from trying it the next time I'm in Boston.

This looks fantastic, and perfectly grilled! And cheese is never an odd breakfast choice, in my mind. ;)

I think blogger ate my last comment. :( I think you're awfully brave for eating jalapenos for breakfast. I love grilled cheese for any meal or snack and really must get over to Cheeseboy!

I think I may just have to go to S. Station for grilled cheese alone! I love that you added jalapenos to yours!

Yum! Never been to Cheeseboy, but I have been craving a grilled cheese for weeks now. This might have to be the place that satisfies my craving!

Grilled cheese is great any time of day, breakfast included :) When I lived in Boston this was definitely not one of the dining options at South Station, haha. It looks like fun. I love specialty places like this. One would hope that if they are only making one thing, they would make it really great!

I've had Cheeseboy a few times. I didn't think it was anything special and would like to see them add more variety in cheeses. Glad you liked it!

I just had grilled cheese for lunch today! So good. I'll have to check that place out the next time I'm waiting for the train back home. :-)

Yours looks good! I have eaten there, and my sandwich was really soggy in the center and didn't have much cheese in it. I'll have to check it out another time!

I went to Cheeseboy on a pre-bus ride food court stop as well! I loved the simple sandwich and especially the toasty and buttery bread!
