A Quiet Moment at Milk Street Café

On Thursday morning, I had an appointment to meet with a colleague at Milk Street Café. We are part of the same professional networking group and had agreed to meet for coffee.

I arrived ten minutes before our 9:30 AM coffee meeting and I was famished. I didn’t have time for breakfast in the morning so I perused what was left of their breakfast pastries after the morning rush. I asked the guy behind the counter what he recommended and he directed me to their pumpkin muffin.

This enormous muffin was delicious as expected – moist but with a crumble top. Since I’m not a big fan of raisins, I was relieved to find just a few raisins in the muffin. This pumpkin muffin went perfectly with my skim chai latte and it gave me a lot of time to reflect. There have been a lot of changes in my life the past few months and I needed this quiet moment of reflection over breakfast.

Tell me, do you hurry through breakfast or do you take the time to quietly reflect over a cup of coffee?

Milk Street Café is located at 50 Milk Street, Boston, MA.

Most mornings breakfast is like medicine. I make a latte and have it with bowl of oatmeal with local honey at the computer while I catch up with all my sources of information.

But, when the sun is out and I can take the time, I love to take the dog for a walk, pick up breakfast at an outdoor cafe or at least on a bench in the park.

That's when I sip and nibble and enjoy. Maybe that's why I love to eat breakfast out on vacation! I don't stop often enough to enjoy it as a regular treat.

I usually skip breakfast these days! I have tea at my computer in the morning during email catch up.

I don't reflect over breakfast. I usually reflect on my car rides to and home from work. The muffin sounds delicious!

The changes in your life are all good so I'm happy for you :) I actually eat a 2-part breakfast (hehe) - a quick one at home before the gym and a bigger one when I get to work. Both times I don't get to sit and eat quietly! But during the weekend I like long, quiet meals :)

Breakfast is probably my favorite meal of the day. I'm usually watching TV while I'm eating it, but I still take my time and enjoy it. :-)

I LOVE relaxing through breakfast, but unfortunately during the week most are eaten at my desk. So I love when I can have a quiet relaxing breakfast on weekends :)

I always rush through breakfast during the week, so I make a point to have long, leisurely breakfasts on the weekends!

I always hurry through my morning coffee and only end up drinking half of it. Then I bring yogurt or something to work and linger over that while getting work done.

I hate to admit it, but I really just shove breakfast in my mouth and don't think too much about it. I need to have some calmer breakfast mements like these!

I've been feeling in need of some reflective moments myself. Maybe a trip to the coffee shop is in order.
Hope you're doing well...

Sounds relaxing! I love my morning ritual of making coffee: hot water on, filter in one cup cone, coffee in, brew. These simple steps are the first thing I do every morning and that relaxes me somehow.

That muffin looks great.
It totally depends on the day - but I tend to have my first cup of coffee solo in the dining room. It's nice to take a quiet minute for myself and enjoy the morning.
