30 by 30: Six Month Update

Six months into my 29th year, my life has seriously been in a whirlwind of change.  The most important lesson that I've learned is that you cannot let fear of the unknown hold you back.  I've made big changes.  I've faced issues with family members and friends that I was too scared to address.  I left my previous firm and switched to a firm that so far seems like so much of a better fit for me.  And after eight years in this beautiful city, we are moving to someplace a lot bigger.  While I'm nervous about the changes, I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to a slower pace of life.  Like I said, there have been a lot of changes but I can't remember when I've been happier.

With all of these changes, my 30 by 30 list has been sadly neglected.  I am now at the halfway point and I still have a lot of items to knock off my list!  Hopefully once this move is behind us, I'll get back on track!  Without further ado, here is the six month update for my 30 by 30 list!

1. Run a 5K.
2. Go camping, like real camping...overnight...in a tent.
3. Pay off all of my credit card debt.
4. Attend a live WWE event (don't judge).
6. Walk the Brooklyn Bridge.
7. Go out to dinner and a movie by myself.
8. Watch all three of the original Star Wars movies.
9. Boil a lobster by myself for the first time.
11. Write a letter of apology to someone that I have wronged and send it.
12. Experiment with molecular gastronomy.
13. Learn to drive stick shift.
14. Learn to make my own kimchi.
15. Learn how to change a car tire.
16. Go to a shooting range.
19. Cook a three-course vegan dinner for my vegan friends.
20. Make turducken for the first time.
21. Climb a mountain.
22. Complete thirty (30) hours of community service or volunteering.
23. Finish an entire plate of Hell Pasta from East Coast Grill.
24. Floss every day.
  • So far I've only missed four days of flossing since January 14th!
25. Take a self-defense course.
27. Make gnocchi for the first time.
28. Fly a kite.
29. Milk a cow.
30. Participate in a city dinner crawl, which means having cocktails, appetizer, dinner, dessert and post-dinner cocktails each at a different place in one city in one night.

I'm hoping to knock at least one or two more items before the move.  In fact, my friend Alicia and I have plans to complete one (or possibly two) of these items this weekend in Connecticut!  But I promise I will get back on track...we'll see how it goes!

I feel like all the life changes your going through should count for at least 5 things on your list, just because. :)

I feel like the 30 by 30 can certainly be adjusted to include some of the exciting and brave new journeys you have been on! I want to do the city food crawl, most definitely!

I love these updates! Bigger place?! I hope you aren't leaving Beacon Hill ... though, bigger place and Beacon Hill are 2 words not usually placed in proximity. ;)

I think you are coming along nicely on your list. I can't wait for the fall to hopefully cross off walking the Brooklyn Bridge with you!!

I think these lists are the ONLY thing making me look forward to turning 29 in Nov haha!!
Great job so far :) May I recommend camping in Sept...I'm not a huge outdoors person, and we haven't gone in a few years but Brian and I used to go like the 2nd week in Sept up to the Kancamangus highway area in NH for a weekend camping, tent and all. I love it then because its warm int he day time but then gets nice and cool at tnight so you can cozy up. Then you can hike one day, and shop the outlets the next ;)
