Zen Sushi and Cherry Wheat Beer

Last night was incredibly hot in Boston and definitely not an evening for cooking. This past week has been really busy for me and I’ve had a lot of late evenings followed by early morning wake-ups. I was really looking forward to a low-key Friday evening consisting of an early dinner, catching up on my DVR and heading to bed real early.

Meghan’s recent blog post about sushi and sangria had me craving sushi for dinner. Plus, it gave us the opportunity to order sushi take-out one last time from our favorite neighborhood sushi spot – Zen Japanese Grill and Sushi Bar.

A mixture of sushi and sashimi

Crispy green beans

Seaweed salad

We ordered quite a spread of sushi. The hot weather had us craving a cold fruity beer so I picked up some Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat beer to help wash down the sushi.

We have a jam-packed weekend coming up filled with family, friends, good food, and of course, more moving errands. A low-key Friday night helped me get the rest I needed to re-energize for the rest of the weekend.

Tell me, what fun things do you have planned for this hot summer weekend?

That sushi assortment looks amazing! I wish Jeff ate sushi... I always just pick two rolls for myself, and he gets teriyaki or something.

Also, I just remember that cherry wheat beer tasting like Robitussin. :/ Maybe it's gotten better in recent years...

Fun plans? Hanging out with you! :) We are actually thinking of a little day trip to Lincoln since it's not safe boating weather. See you soon!

The sushi looks fantastic. I had a good meal at Zen a couple years back, love their cute little beacon st. patio.

The cape has been good to me so far. I'll miss you tonight, have a blast.

Beautiful sushi - there is such an art to making it! Looks like you're cooled off and ready for the weekend!

There's a Zen in Western Mass that's my ultimate favorite place--pretty sure it's not related, since it's a common sushi bar name, haha. I visit Boston often and have wondered if this place is any good, and your spread looks amazing! Did you order the rolls individually or is that a platter?

Sushi must have been perfect on that hot night! I was in Maine where it was a tad cooler (hence just catching up on blogs now!)

Zen is our go-to sushi place. It's so convenient and close to home. I'm bummed to see that you've moved from the neighborhood but hope everything is going well for you north of the city!
